Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez has been a Mexican American actor, performer, and songwriter for many years. Sara Ramirez was raised with her American mother. She was subjected to a variety of racist taunts that caused her to feel uncomfortable. As she entered the 9th grade she felt more secure after being applauded by her teachers for her performance at school's audition. This not only increased her self-confidence but also changed the direction she wanted to go in her career. She was a graduate of New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. When she was 23, she began her career making her debut on Broadway with Paul Simon's The Capeman and in films featuring You've Got Mail. In the Broadway version of the original show Spamalot She played The Lady of The Lake and won both the Tony Award as well as high praise from critics. The following year, in 2007 she was cast in the ABC show Grey's Anatomy and became more famous. The actress is also a renowned artist and published an extended version of her play. She also works as an LGBT activist.
